The overall purpose of Bygginnovationen - program is to develop a strong and lasting innovation environment for the Swedish construction sector. This will be achieved by bridging the gap with Academia and thereby promoting the commercialization of knowledge, solutions and research results. In cooperation with the Swedish University of Building Engineering Sciences, the program aims at improving the collaboration between the construction industry, research institutes and other organizations. The program is a continuation of the initial work performed during 2009-2011. Provided this newly started phase shows positive results, it is the intention of VINNOVA and the industrial partners to continue with the program for a total period of 15 years.

VINNOVA - Swedish Governmental Agency for Innovation Systems - is Sweden’s innovation agency. Our mission is to promote sustainable growth by improving the conditions for innovations, as well as funding needs-driven research. VINNOVA’s vision is for Sweden to be a world-leading country in research and innovation, an attractive place in which to invest and conduct business. We promote collaborations between companies, universities, research institutes and the public sector. We do this by stimulating a greater use of research, by making long-term investment in strong research and innovation milieus and by developing catalytic meeting places. VINNOVA’s activities also focus on strengthening international cooperation. In order to increase our impact, we are also dedicated to interacting with other research financiers and innovation-promoting organisations. Every year VINNOVA invests about SEK 2 billion in various initiatives. Since co-financing from actors must total at least the same amount, our funds have more than doubled. Funding decisions are made with assistance from national and international experts and there is ongoing monitoring and evaluation of all initiatives.

PLP / Architecture
PLP Architecture is a London-based group of architects, designers and thinkers who value the transformative role of ideas and the capacity for architecture to inspire. The practice is led by a group of partners including Lee Polisano, David Leventhal, Karen Cook and Ron Bakker, who formerly were in charge of KPF’s London office for over 20 years. Of equal importance to our work is the drive to learn and innovate. Our in-house research groups, including Sustainability, Research, and Computational Design, serve both as think tanks as well as day to day support for our design teams. The Research Group at PLP is dedicated to examining and utilizing new and emerging technologies. One of the precursors for this type of work is digital simulations. PLP has its own rendering groups for creating images and animations which show the practical achievements available in the digital world. The control of geometric systems through parametric design has greatly developed in recent years, and PLP’s Computational Design Group is deeply involved in developing these geometric design systems.
